The ADAPT Psychotherapy Approach

Matt Keck The ADAPT Psychotherapy Approach The fundamental principle to my approach is that life constantly presents us with new challenges and problems and the only way to navigate through those problems is to learn to adapt.  Many therapies ask clients to "change", as if there were something inherently wrong with the client.  But adapting recognizes that there is something inherently right about the client, and that their environment has presented them with a situation in which they need to reevaluate and take action. It is the task of each of us to find a way of living that is most adaptive, even in difficult situations. And though it may take some time, we have the power to adapt to any problem or situation.

Matt Keck AThe ADAPT Psychotherapy Approach ADAPT is not necessarily a new therapy, rather a new way of utilizing the most effective, clinically-proven therapies. The ADAPT approach uses the most useful techniques from various therapies to help clients through whatever issue they currently face.
In addition, objective data is collected throughout the process so that the client can see how the therapy is working.

The process is collaborative and dynamic, the therapy itself adapts according to what is needed, and it empowers the client to take an active role in their own treatment.  With the ADAPT approach, you are the expert on yourself and I am your guide, using my specialized knowledge and training to help you discover the adaptive potential that lies within.

In working with clients I focus on all areas of life in order to create a comprehensive system of wellness.  We work on their:

Actions - the behaviors that a client currently engages in
Drives - what motivates the client in the situation they face
Affect - the feelings the client has and how those impact them
Personal Relationships - the interaction with others in the client's life
Thoughts -  the way that clients think about themselves and the situation

Working on all of these areas enables the client to overcome not just the problem they currently face, but any other problem that may face down the road.  It is my honor and privelege to accompany my clients on their journey, and a pleasure to witness them arrive.
